“Joe Keatinge has established himself as the latest new writer I want to undermine and destroy. It’s just top class stuff.”
- Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Civil War, Wanted, Ultimates)

"I think Joe is definitely one to watch."

This party is FREE for CBLDF Members. Non-Members, suggested $10 – $20 donation at the door, please. More details here.

On Friday at 7 PM in Room 4, I’ll be on the Monkeybrain Comics panel. Yeah, THAT Monkey Brain Comics - the digital initative headed by Chris Roberson & Allison Baker that made a gigantic splash last week. They announced a number of series they’re doing. They also announced I’m on their panel. Since one of the series announced wasn’t by me does that mean they’ll announce one that is at the panel?! FIND OUT, TRUE BELIEVERS!

See ya there!

Stumptown Comics Double Feature

This weekend brings a show I’ve been dying to go to for years, The Stumptown Comics Fest.

It has a poster, drawn by your friend and mine, Brandon Graham.
It looks like this:

First up, big props to Festival Director Indigo Kelleigh. Dude doesn’t get enough credit for pulling together the largest creator centric comics festival in the Northwest. Some people - including myself - have helped him out with various aspects of the show, but make no mistake this dude is still doing the work of 100 folks.

Second, I’m hosting a workshop and am a guest on another panel. They’re both on the same day (Sunday), in the same room (A104), one after another. A Me Rambling On About Comics Double Feature.
They are:

4:00-4:45pm
Selling Your Own Damn Comics — You’ve drawn, written and maybe even published your comic, but the hardest part has yet to come! Joe Keatinge, former Image Comics PR & Marketing Coordinator, Executive Editor of the Eisner-winning PopGun anthology and writer of the upcoming Frank Cho superhero series Brutal, teaches you how to successfully market and sell your work!

5:00-5:45pm
Sneaking Into Comics — How do you get into the comics industry? Come learn the secrets from moderators Brandon Seifert and Lukas Ketner (writer and artist of Witch Doctor, coming out this summer from Robert Kirkman’s imprint of Image Comics); Dark Horse submissions editor John Schork; “Dear Dracula” and Marvel Comics writer Joshua Williamson; Nate Simpson, artist and writer of the much-talked-about “Nonplayer”; and editor, writer and former Image Comics PR guy Joe Keatinge.

I originally wanted to call Selling Your Own Damn Comics “How To Sell Yourself,” but thought it would imply a panel on prostitution. In a way, that’s kind of what it IS about, but if consensual sex was replaced with consensual comics.
