New York Comic Con is finally here and it’s my absolute last convention of the year! So, we’re doing it up big.
Not only am I rolling the whole con in Artist’s Alley, I’m sporting two tables (R7 & R8) with a tight crew of dudes I collaborate with.
ROSS CAMPBELL (Glory)
ANDRE SZYMANOWICZ (Hell Yeah)
KEN GARING (Intergalactic)
+ Surprises??? (Maybe!)
This will be the very first convention I’ll be slinging both GLORY Vol. 1 AND HELL YEAH Vol. 1. In addition, it will be the WORLD PREMIERE of the return of GLORY, as we’ll be debuting GLORY #29. It’s the origin of her little sister. If you’ve read 28, you know that means it’ll be really violent.
Here’s a preview page I haven’t shown anywhere else:
I will also be on
TWO THREE panels!
The first one’s not actually at NYCC, but rather at the world famous Jim Hanley’s comic shop.
On Wednesday, October 10th, at 7pm, Depth Of Field Magazine is presenting A Celebration of Pop Music Comics at Jim Hanley’s Universe in Manhattan. I guess I’ll be talking about pop music in comics. There will be a bunch of rad folks there, including moderator Patrick Reed (editor of Depth Of Field Magazine), High Moon’s David Gallaher, Phonogram & Uncanny X-Men’s Kieron Gillen, PUNK Magazine’s John Holmstrom, Molly Danger’s Jamal Igle, ethnomusicologist Elizabeth Keenan, The Fifth Beatle & Dusty Star’s Andrew Robinson (holy shit i love Dusty Star), 27’s Charles Soule, Human Being Lawnmower’s Avi Spivak, Fifth Beatles’ Vivek J. Tiwardy and Prince of Cats’ Ronald Wimberly. Hot damn that’s a ridiculous line up. Very stoked to be part of the proceedings.
AND NOW A NEW PANEL.
On Thursday, I’ll be on the Image Revolution Documentary Panel in ROOM 1A04 at 6:30 PM. It’s a panel on the upcoming Image Comics documentary and I guess I’l talking about Image Comics. I used to work there doing PR. Now I write comics for them. WHAT’S NEXT? (probably more writing comics)
ALSO, on Sunday…!
Marvel NOW!: Amazing Spider-Man and Beyond, 10:45 AM in room 1E07. Here’s Marvel’s official description: Marvel NOW! is on the horizon and Spidey & Co. are in the spotlight. Find out what to expect from the Spider-Man Office when Senior Editor Steve Wacker, Dan Slott (Amazing Spider-Man), Mark Waid (Daredevil), Joe Keatinge (Morbius), Kevin Shinick (Avenging Spider-Man), Ryan Stegman (Scarlet Spider), Declan Shalvey (Venom) and Arune Singh (Director of Communications) come to town! And Spider-Man won’t be the only topic of discussion here! Get the details on Daredevil, Punisher, and more!
Yeah, so if you wanna here me yammer on about Morbius, this is your golden opportunity!
And finally, if you’re looking for me, my banner stand is currently locked in Emi Lenox’s car while she’s in Japan, so just look out for this face at R7 and R8.

On Thursday, I’ll be one of the Image Comics creators hanging around the CBLDF’s Comic-Con Welcome Party at the Westgate Hotel, 1055 Second Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101 from 8 PM to 11 PM! This party is FREE for CBLDF Members. Non-Members, suggested $10 – $20 donation at the door, please. More details here.
On Friday at 7 PM in Room 4, I’ll be on the Monkeybrain Comics panel. Yeah, THAT Monkey Brain Comics - the digital initative headed by Chris Roberson & Allison Baker that made a gigantic splash last week. They announced a number of series they’re doing. They also announced I’m on their panel. Since one of the series announced wasn’t by me does that mean they’ll announce one that is at the panel?! FIND OUT, TRUE BELIEVERS!
See ya there!
On April 26th at 8:00 PM, Portland’s Jack London Bar once again plays host to Comics Underground, where all sorts of comics creators do a live presentation and reading, usually of their own work.
This time around the crew includes MADMAN’s Michael Allred, HOPELESS SAVAGE’s Jen Van Meter, DEAR CREATURE’s Jonathan Case and me.
At first I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. I think the comics I write would make for odd public performance. They’re pretty dramatic and violent. As much as I love writing Glory telling Supreme ‘this is no time for mercy’ as she rips off his arm (spoilers), I think it would be weird to say aloud in front of an audience.
So I thought it might be a good opportunity to share a comic I hold really close to my heart, one thats been a huge inspiration and have wanted to discuss with to a wider audience than my poor friends who have to listen to me ramble on about it.
With that in mind, I’m doing this:
During my alloted 15-20 minutes, I’m going to give a brief history on CC Beck’s great tenure on the character, specifically focused on the Fawcett-published series, Captain Marvel Adventures. This will include a reading of two or three of my favorite stories. I’m not sure which ones they’ll be, but they could include choice bits like:
Uh, maybe not that last one.
ANYWAY. BE THERE OR BE SQUARE.
FINALLY - Image Comics has COME BACK to OAKLAND!!!
That’s right, Image Expo, the event over twenty years in the making has arrived!
I’ll be tabling at booth #70 with WITCHDOCTOR’s Brandon Seifert and XENOHOLICS’ Joshua Williamson. Both are 100% guaranteed LEGIT BROS.
Just look for us here:
Keep an eye out for this sweet ass banner:
I’ll be selling copies of GLORY #23 and the much-anticipated HELL YEAH Limited Edition Ashcan, featuring the first fourteen pages of the first issue AND an exclusive epilogue that will NEVER BE REPRINTED.

Friday is when we get our PARTY ON.
AND THEN SUNDAY BRINGS…!
Details to come.
I’m gonna be at this, so you should be at this:

ABOUT THREADLESSWe’re awesome people from all over the world who make mind-blowing art. Our process starts when a great idea is born in an artist’s mind. (That could be you, that could even be your grannie!) The artist submits their idea to our site, where our community of 1.5 million debates, discusses, and votes on that idea. If the idea gets a really good score, we make it into a tee, tote, hoody, or tube sock. (That last one isn’t true… yet.) Then, as long as folks keep buying that product, we keep rewarding that artist with loadsa money, prizes, and exposure. So people who buy from us support great artists and their great ideas. Neat, huh? Join us at Threadless.com. Threadless ~ Make Great Together.
